Beginning Monday, May 13 for approximately 2-3 weeks, Municipal subcontractor Insight Pipe will begin sanitary sewer smoke testing on McMurray Rd., Hollydale Dr., Lorlta Ln., and Diablo Dr.  Affected residents have been notified by Insight Pipe.

During testing, residents may see smoke coming from vent stacks, holes in the ground, or other locations and are asked to not be alarmed or call the Police or the Fire Department unless they are sure that there is a true emergency.

Please note that the smoke is non-toxic, white/gray in color, leaves no residue, and does not pose a fire hazard.

Smoke should not enter resident homes during testing unless they have defective plumbing or dry drain traps. To prevent dry drain traps, pour ½ gallon of water in every basement floor drain and any seldom used sink/shower drains.

If smoke enters your home, this indicates that DANGEROUS SEWER GAS could be regularly entering your home. Questions or concerns can be directed to Abby Corrigan, Municipal Sanitary Sewer Engineer, at 412-639-0094.

The Municipality of Bethel Park has once again received the “Banner Community” designation for 2026 from the Allegheny League of Municipalities (ALOM). “We are honored to once again be recognized as a Banner Community,” said Bethel Park Manager Kristen Denne. “This designation reflects the dedication of our elected officials, staff and community partners who work together to make Bethel Park an outstanding place to live, work and visit." The Banner Community designation honors municipalities and authorities that distinguish themselves as model communities through a variety of sustainable practices. These practices include professional development, intergovernmental cooperation, sound fiscal management and proactive communications to engage community stakeholders. “Congratulations on your designation this year and for your dedication to good government,” said ALOM Associate Director Crystal Sickles. Bethel Park has received the designation each year since 2014.
