Frequently Asked Questions: Bethel Park Transition to Allegheny County Emergency Dispatch (ACES 911)

1. What is changing?

Bethel Park is transitioning emergency dispatch services to Allegheny County Emergency Services (ACES) . This means that 911 calls will now be answered and dispatched through the County's centralized system.

2. When will this happen?

The transition is scheduled for July 13, 2026, at 8:00 am.

3. What about private alarm systems at businesses and residential locations?

Please contact your alarm service provider to ensure that starting on July 13,2026, all emergency notifications will be handled by Allegheny County Emergency Services via 911 . Residents should advise their alarm companies to call (412) 473-3370 to notify ACES of an alarm or emergency.

4. Do I still dial 911 in an emergency?

Yes. There is no change to how you request emergency services. Always dial 911 in an emergency.

5. Who do I call for non-emergency issues?

During regular business hours, Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, the police department can be reached at (412) 831-6800.

6. Will police, fire, or EMS services change?

No. Bethel Park Police, Fire, and EMS will continue to respond as they do today . Only the dispatch system is changing.

7. Will response times be affected?

No. Response times are not expected to change. In many cases, improved coordination through the county system may enhance efficiency.

8. Will the dispatcher know where I am?

Yes. Allegheny County uses advanced GPS, mapping, and location technology to identify caller locations and dispatch the appropriate responders.

9. If I show up at the police station, how do I contact the police?

The Bethel Park Police Station has a red phone on the wall of the lobby that will connect you to police assistance. If you are looking for the police records and admin office, there is a separate call box in the station lobby.

10. Who do I call if I need animal control?

Call ACES 911 for any animal control needs after July 13, 2026.

11. What if I call the 833-2000 number?

Residents who inadvertently call (412) 833-2000 will be automatically forwarded to ACES 911.

12. Why is Bethel Park making this change?

This transition:

Improves technology and reliability
Enhances coordination with neighboring communities
Reduces the need to maintain aging local dispatch infrastructure

13. Is this common practice?

Bethel Park Implements CivicPlus® Recreation Management Solution

Bethel Park, PA — July 6, 2026 — Bethel Park Recreation announced today that they will be partnering with CivicPlus® to implement a new Recreation Management software for all recreation program registration.

CivicPlus® offers a cloud-based solution that provides residents with better access to parks and recreation activities, classes, leagues, and facility reservations through seamless online registration and payment. The transition to CivicPlus® allows for a more intuitive and easier to use registration platform, as well as provides users with a mobile-friendly experience on any device.

“We’re thrilled to bring this new software to our community. It’s designed to make participation easier than ever—from navigating offerings to receiving updates and registering for programs,” said Lindsey Sibert, Assistant Recreation Director for Bethel Park Recreation . “We are confident it will streamline the user experience, enhance accessibility and usability, and make it simpler for our community to stay informed.”

Residents will be able to search for and reserve community facilities such as pavilions and meeting rooms, all conveniently online. The new website will also allow residents to manage their family accounts, view registration history, and receive important program updates, making participation easier than ever.

The new CivicPlus® website will be available to view starting on July 13, 2026 and registration on CivicPlus® will open on August 10, 2026 for fall program registration.

Starting on July 13, 2026, residents who already have a RecDesk account will be able to use the same email to log in to CivicPlus®, after prompting a password reset. Residents who never had an account with the previous system will be able to create a new account on CivicPlus® as well.

It’s finally time to gather in Bethel Park for fireworks! Grab your friends, bring your blankets, and get ready for a great night celebrating together in Bethel Park.

Viewing Locations:
• Site A: Abe Lincoln School
• Site B: Hamilton Presbyterian Church
• Site C: Lowe’s on Baptist Road
• Site D: Cool Springs/AHN Sports Complex

Most of our viewing sites will feature a locally loved dessert vendor, and—new this year—live entertainment to enjoy while we wait for dark. We’ll also have portable restrooms available, so feel free to come early and save your spot!

Fireworks will be launched from Millennium Park. Please note that Millennium Park will be closed to the public from Friday through Sunday for setup and cleanup. We appreciate your understanding and help in keeping everyone safe.

Bethel Park to Transition ALL Emergency Dispatch Services to Allegheny County Emergency Services 911 (ACES 911)

Bethel Park, PA — June 17, 2026 — The Municipality of Bethel Park announced today that all emergency dispatch services, including Police, Fire and EMS will transition to Allegheny County Emergency Services 911 (ACES 911) , a move designed to strengthen regional coordination, modernize dispatch technology, and support long-term operational efficiency.

EMS and fire dispatch services have already transitioned to the county system in recent years. With this final phase, police dispatch will also be integrated, placing all emergency communications for Bethel Park within the Allegheny County 911 center.

The transition will take effect on July 13, 2026, at 8:00 a.m. Beginning at that time, residents needing to access emergency services should call 911 for all Police, Fire, and EMS emergencies. Residents who inadvertently dial the 412-833-2000 number will be forwarded to ACES 911 dispatch.

“This transition strengthens our ability to deliver reliable and efficient emergency services while leveraging the advanced technology and regional coordination provided by Allegheny County,” said Kristen Denne, Municipal Manager . “Residents will continue to experience the same high level of service from local police, fire and EMS.”

Under the new system, emergency calls originating in Bethel Park will be received and dispatched through the County’s ACES 911 center. Police, fire, and emergency medical services will continue to be provided by Bethel Park’s local responders , ensuring continuity of service and familiar community-based response.

Allegheny County’s centralized dispatch system offers enhanced capabilities, including:

Advanced mapping and location technology
Improved coordination across municipalities and emergency agencies
Increased redundancy and system reliability

The transition also reflects a strategic effort to maintain essential public safety services without requiring significant local investment in aging dispatch infrastructure.

Bethel Park officials have worked closely with Allegheny County to support a seamless implementation through system testing, personnel coordination, and operational planning.

“This transition reflects a long-term investment in public safety infrastructure and regional collaboration,” Denne added. “We are confident it will enhance emergency response capabilities for our residents.”

Municipality of Bethel Park Once Again Named “Banner Community”

The Municipality of Bethel Park has once again received the “Banner Community” designation for 2026 from the Allegheny League of Municipalities (ALOM).

“We are honored to once again be recognized as a Banner Community,” said Bethel Park Manager Kristen Denne. “This designation reflects the dedication of our elected officials, staff and community partners who work together to make Bethel Park an outstanding place to live, work and visit."

The Banner Community designation honors municipalities and authorities that distinguish themselves as model communities through a variety of sustainable practices. These practices include professional development, intergovernmental cooperation, sound fiscal management and proactive communications to engage community stakeholders.

“Congratulations on your designation this year and for your dedication to good government,” said ALOM Associate Director Crystal Sickles.

Fresh. Tasty. Local. We introduced them as our identity this season — but they've been true since 2006. Here's what we actually mean by each one.

A few weeks ago we wrote about turning 20 and putting a name to what this market has always stood for. Fresh · Tasty · Local — three words that aren't new values so much as a description of every Tuesday since 2006, finally said out loud.

But words on a sign and words with meaning are different things. So before the outdoor season opens on May 6, here's what each one actually means to us — and why all three are necessary. Take any one away and the picture isn't quite right.

Fresh, Tasty, and Local aren't three separate things that happen to share a sign.

Fresh without a story is just produce.

Tasty without care is just flavor.

Local without relationship is just a distance.

Together, they describe something that's been happening on Tuesday evenings in this community since 2006 — and that's worth saying out loud.

The 20th outdoor season opens May 6. Same lot, same faces — and a few new ones. Come hungry, bring a bag, and say hello to someone you haven't met yet.

The Bethel Park Farmers' Market turns 20 this season. Here's what that means — and what comes next.

In 2006, the Bethel Park Farmers Market set up for the first time. Nobody knew then whether it would last a summer or twenty years. It hopped around the community, finding new homes until we landed at the Corrigan drive lot. Celebrating our 20th season deserves a moment before anything else.

To encapsulate the last 19 years, we're putting words to what you already love. Starting in May, Fresh · Tasty · Local becomes the guiding identity of the Bethel Park Farmers Market. More of a refresh than a reinvention, but after two decades, you deserve some clarity for what has been true since the beginning. Fresh, Tasty, Local is at the core of our mission statement:

Those three words — Fresh, Tasty, Local — aren't new values. They're a description of every Tuesday since 2006.

Fresh is the tomato picked that morning, the bread still warm from the oven.

Tasty is the vendor who has been perfecting their recipe longer than some of their customers have been alive.

Local is the gift of knowing the name and face of the person who grew, or made, the food you eat.

Twenty years of that adds up. It adds up in the vendors who have made this market part of their livelihood, the families who've made it part of their routine, and the very real way a weekly gathering shapes a neighborhood's identity over time.

The outdoor season opens on the first Tuesday in May . Vendor listings are being updated now — check back soon for the full 2026 lineup.

Until then, No Cook Tuesday keeps running every week — food trucks, familiar faces, no dishes for you to clean. A good way to stay connected between now and the outdoor opener.

More is coming this season — vendor spotlights, anniversary moments worth marking, and a few things the market hasn't done before. Twenty years is worth celebrating. Stick around for it.

For Women's History Month, we're highlighting five Municipal Council Representatives who made history being elected to the first women-majority council in Bethel Park.

Diane Ford - Ward 1

Diane Ford has served as the Ward 1 Council Representative since January 2026. As a lifelong Bethel Park resident and BPHS graduate, Diane has worked with and for the Bethel Park community for over 20 years and appreciates the opportunity to serve everyone, including the underserved, with love, dignity and respect.

Kim Kamenicky - Ward 2 & Council Vice President

Kim Kamenicky has served as the Ward 2 Council Representative since January 2024. A longtime Bethel Park resident, she is also a Senior Marketing Director at a technology firm and brings strong leadership experience to her role on council. Kim is a wife and mother who is proud to serve the community she calls home.

Jillian Kautzman - Ward 7

Jillian Kautzman has served as the Ward 7 Council Representative since January 2026. Jillian works full-time in the hotel industry and is also an artist, focusing on still life drawings and pet portraits. She is a longtime Bethel Park resident and a mother to two human kids and three animal kids. Jillian is grateful to serve on council with other amazing women.

Viola Garis - Ward 8

Viola Garis has served as the Ward 8 Council Representative since January 2024. Viola has been a Bethel Park resident since 2021 and brings almost a decade of state and local government experience to council.

Alison Piccolino - Ward 9

Alison Piccolino has served as the Ward 9 Council Representative since January 2026. Along with her over 20 years of state government experience, Alison brings a wide range of volunteer service leadership within the non-profit realm as well as local community organizations.

For Women's History Month, we're highlighting six leaders within the Municipality of Bethel Park who have made history in their positions.

Municipal Manager - Kristen Denne

2.5 years with the Municipality of Bethel Park and the first female Municipal Manager. Kristen became a Municipal Manager when she was just 24 years old and boasts a wealth of knowledge invaluable to the Municipality.

Director of Finance - Lisa Lapaglia

5.5 years with the Municipality of Bethel Park and the first female Director of Finance. Lisa drove the initiative of taking the Municipality from paper to digital payroll which has saved hundreds of hours in processing.

Director of Human Resources - Doreen DeFabbo

5 years with the Municipality of Bethel Park and the inaugural Director of Human Resources. Doreen established our wellness program and manages the entire employee lifecycle.

Director of Public Works - Susan Dolinar

45 years with the Municipality of Bethel Park and the first female Director of Bethel Park Public Works. Susie started with the Municipality in the tax office as a clerk and worked her way up to Director.

Director of Information Technology - Karen Colussi

6 years with the Municipality of Bethel Park and the inaugural Director of IT. Karen has been instrumental in taking our technology to the next level and protects the Municipality from cyber-attacks.

Bethel Park Police Lieutenant - Lt. Joelle Dixon

By now you should have received a welcome letter from Keystone Collections about your change in sewage utility bill collections.

CREDIT BALANCES

Any credits you have on your account will be reflected on your next sewer bill.

PAYMENT OPTIONS

Current payment options include payment by mail (check or money order only), online through pay.keystonecollects.com , personal online banking bill pay, or by dropping-off your bill at the Municipal Building in the designated drop box located in front of the Police Department entrance. Please note that the drop box is for Municipal and Sewage related bills only.

AUTO-PAY

New features will be coming soon, including auto-payment options through Keystone Collections. Details will be provided in your bill when the option is available.

Council Reorganization

Meet Your New Bethel Park Council!

On Monday, Jan. 5, 2026, Bethel Park Council held its annual reorganization meeting as newly elected Council members officially took office.

During the meeting, Council selected its leadership for the new term. Joe Janosik (Ward 5) will serve as Council President , and Kim Kamenicky (Ward 2) as Vice President . Each received 9 – 0 votes.

The following newly elected members were sworn in:

President Joe Janosik (Ward 5)
Jillian Kautzman (Ward 7 )
Alison Piccolino (Ward 9)

They join returning Council members:
